There are so many ways to be fifty plus. If you stayed at home and raised your children and now they’re gone, you can relax and enjoy your life if that’s what you want to do. If you have a career you can focus more intently on succeeding, make new goals and work as hard as you want to. If you’re able, you may spend time traveling, going to places you’ve always dreamed of seeing.
But maybe that’s not enough for you. Maybe you feel the need to do something more – to create, explore, connect, inform, learn, grow, change…because the truth is, you’re not done yet.
The concept of ndy®, developed by Carol April, arose from a sad but important experience in Carol’s life. Carol’s late friend Jenise was the inspiration for this anthem. Jenise was dying of cancer, but whenever someone would start acting too morbid around her, she hushed them quickly with,
“Give me a break, I’m not dead yet!”
Jenise was only in her early 50′s when she passed away She was a talented woman with so much more to accomplish and contribute – not unlike most women – and men – at that age. In the Spring of 2008,“not dead yet” became Not Done Yet and the idea of acknowledging and celebrating the baby-boomer generation’s energy, purpose, work ethic, experience, wisdom and drive was born.

Ndy® is about optimism, strength, humor and encouraging people to believe in themselves the way they’ve believed in friends, children, spouses and families. Ndy® is dedicated to changing the way people view aging. Encouraging others to realize their dreams, reach their most ambitious goals and live agelessly at any age is the message ndy® strives to send to this unique generation – the baby boomers. Ndy® strongly believes in supporting causes that matter to them and to the community, and contributes a portion of every American made ndy® tee, tank and thermal sold to support The Noreen Fraser Cancer Research Foundation and Alzheimer’s research, as well as the Our House Grief Support Center, a non-sectarian place of comfort for those in need.

The company was begun with a small inheritance from Carol April’s loving Aunt Pearl, and her largesse has allowed Carol to pursue her goal of empowering those 50+ to live like they’re Not Done Yet! With generous support of time and energy from her husband Rand, and her family and friends, Carol has been able to develop ndy® successfully and to create a buzz among other boomers about her message.
So no matter where you are in this midlife stage – whether you’re happily married or successfully single; healthy and strong or battling illness; struggling financially or set for life; running a marathon or holding down the sofa – where ever you are, remember:
WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER and WE’RE NOT DONE YET!!

I love this post, and I love the concept of ndy®. I wasn’t aware that a portion of their profits go to such amazing causes. My particular interest is Alzheimer’s research, since that claimed my mother’s life. Sharon, thank you so much for shining a light on Carol April’s organization. Really wonderful information here, and I’ll look for your tweet about this so I can RT it. Brava!

Great post Sharon, it is easy to feel like life has become a little, same old, same old, this is a terrific reminder that it is not. I too saw them at the Bloomer party and thought that is was great, but I had no idea of this incredible backstory. Thanks.

This is the way to live. In our household, we frequently refer to ourselves as works in progress. I’m not anywhere near done yet. There’s so much to learn and experience. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Carol April is one amazing, generous, loving human being. I know this for a fact because I am lucky enough to call her my dear friend. Her heart is in the right place. I hope her message gets out to the wider public and that she sells some more shirts along the way.
