Lois Alter Mark of Stylesubstancesoul.com wrote a post that I loved called 25 Things I’m Thankful For. With Thanksgiving a few days away, her list made me consider what it is that I’m especially thankful for this year. Let me get the big things out of the way – I’m thankful for the health and success of my children, my husband, my family, my friends – everyone I love. I’m thankful that the world is still spinning and we’re all here to enjoy the ride. And I’m especially thankful this year that President Obama will continue to be our country’s leader for another term.
Now for some other things.
1. HGTV. It’s my personal lullabye.
2. The friends I’ve made over the past 20 years. You know who you are. You all make my world so much more special and way more entertaining.
3. Our dog Lambeau. Even though he’s in love with my husband, I know he likes me too.
4. New York City. Just knowing it’s there.
5. Blogging.
6. Loehmann’s and Home Goods.
7. Homeland, Once Upon a Time and The Good Wife. Sunday nights are kickass.
8. Argo. Best movie of the year so far.
9. The delicious joy of a good book.

10. The Huffington Post and the New York Times.
11. My refinished floors. LOVE.
12. Mumford and Sons, The Beatles, these two kids who sing on Nashville, Lady Gaga, and Sinatra. Always Sinatra.
13. Falling asleep.
14. Those nights when I can stay asleep.
15. My grandmother for 98 wonderful years.
16. My Aunt Susie, for her beautiful Pinterest page – and for hosting Thanksgiving this year.

17. It’s almost time for peppermint ice cream.

18. A room of my own.
19. My mother’s new husband Bill. He’s a keeper.
20. My iphone, my imac, my Macbook air. I’m a total convert.
21. Oh, and this guy.
And, not to sound corny or anything, I’m so grateful and thankful that people come here and read my blog. It makes me feel terrific. So thank you. So much!
I will be taking a brief hiatus from blogging until December 3. See you all then. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hello Sharon — and we’re all thankful for you. Your site always makes me feel like the world is full of great people. And I love your bold move of not blogging until early December. I’m thinking that would be a wonderful respite for me too! Numbers be damned!

Thanks Shannon – a little holiday break will be good for me – and there’s more to the story, too.
Your blog is great and I love reading it. I share many of the things that you are thankful for (i.e. Sunday night TV, singers on Nashville, my dog, friends like you, etc.) and it did make me think about those things. Happy Turkey Day!!!
We are so on the same wavelength, Sharon! I love this list!

Great post!!! Fell upon your blog today. Being Canadian, we’ve already had our Thanksgiving, but some of the things I’m thankful for include: challenges that I set for myself and surpasses (ran my first 10km race and then a few months later my first half marathon!!!), a wonderful new boyfriend whom I love with all my heart, and a new passion (I’ve begun blogging about my next challenge…running from Montreal to NYC as part of a team fundraising event!!!). Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!!! Can’t wait to continue reading this blog!

Yes, gratitude is good for the soul.
I was looking that pic of the dawgly and wondering why our dogs prefer me (they luv us both) the cats cling to Suzy. If we are both home, the dawg is always at my feet. So many things could play into this, but rather that analyze it, I mostly just enjoy it.
It is also interesting to note, that many of your things to thankful for, match ours. Be well.
